What is ABB Group?

It was in the 19th century when Ludvig Fredholm (ASEA) and Brown, Boveri & Cie (BBC) created the Asea Brown Boveri wherein both companies are experts in electrical light and generators manufacturing and production of AC and DC motors, generators, steam turbines and transformers respectively.

The ABB Group for more than four decades continuously uphold its integrity in being the catalyst through industrial digitalization.

The passion to create, connect and produced digitalized equipment and systems have led to efficient safety and productivity in utilities, industry, transport and infrastructure spread all over the globe.

ABB Company Profile

The booming growth of the company have started around 1988 when ASEA and BBC have merged and creating a new company in Zurich, Switzerland, thus ABB. After a couple of years, the company has launched Azipod, a family of electric propulsion systems that are fixed to the outside of ships providing both thrust and stearing functions.

After which comes the FlexPicker and the ground breaking high-voltage shore-to-ship electric power, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships berthed at the Swedish port of Gothenburg. And for the past decades, ABB have reached the Southeast Asia to extend its services and recently have successfully designed and develop a hybrid DC breaker a hybrid DC breaker suitable for the creation of large inter-regional DC grids. This breakthrough solves a technical challenge that has been left unresolved for over a hundred years and was perhaps one of the main influencers in the ‘war of currents’.
