PwC Corporation Short History
PwC came together after Coopers & Lybrand merged with Price Waterhouse in September 1998. Both of these companies were formed in the mid-1800s.
Prior to this, however, one of the defining moments is Samuel Lowell Price setting up his practice in 1849. Then, William Cooper initially founded his accountancy practice in 1854, before turning into Cooper Brothers after his brothers joined the company.
Meanwhile, in 1865, three key individuals join forces and partnered up together and these are Price, Holyland, and Waterhouse. The company changed its name to Price, Waterhouse & Co. in 1874.
A lot of transformation happened over the years, with Cooper Brothers & Co, Currie Co and Lybrand, McDonald, and Ross Bros & Montgomery merging to form Coopers & Lybrand in 1957. A lot of mergers happened until Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand joined forces to create the PwC that we know today, otherwise known as PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The company acquired other firms such as Paragon Consulting. Group, BearingPoint, and Diamond Management & Technology Consultants. They also included Logan Tod & Co, Ant’s Eye View, Booz & Company, and BGT Partners to further their management consulting and customer engagement efforts.
What does PwC do?

The company works by offering its clients an extensive range of professional business services, including auditing, accounting, and human resources consulting, among others.
